Center Middle School PTA
Hello from Nancy Wright, CMS PTA President. We are doing GREAT things in PTA for the Center Middle School community this year. Everyone is more than welcome to attend our meetings. Along with regular PTA agenda items the Principal presents an informative update of school events. It’s a great way to keep up on what’s happening at CMS and if you’re a member, you have the opportunity to vote on any issues presented to the general membership. Mark your calendars, our meetings are on the following Mondays: September 15, October 20, November 17, December 15, January 26, February 23, March 23, April 20, and May 18. We meet at CMS in the LGIA room at 6pm.
Our major fundraiser this year will be a raffle. Funds raised will be used to support the many programs and events held at Center Middle School. Some of these include, Career Day, Educational Scholarships, Field Trips, Bussing, Holiday Parties, Health Screening, Health Fairs, Library, National Junior Honor Society, Debate, Newspaper, Drug Prevention and Awareness, Multi Cultural Fair, Sports, Staff Appreciation to name a few. We hope when a student asks you to buy raffle tickets you will say yes to support Center Middle School.
We also raise funds through our concession stand which is open nearly every day in the cafeteria over lunch, 11-1pm. This concession stand is called “The Buzz II” and we sell school supplies and popular ice cream products. It is manned by volunteers 100% and is a great way for you to get involved with your child’s middle school experience and help the PTA as well.
Remember, it’s never too late to join PTA; membership is only $5.00. This allows you to take advantage of great discounts with some National PTA sponsors such as Southwest Vacation, Barnes and Noble.com, Liberty Mutual and many more. Becoming a PTA member reflects not only your support of the CMS PTA, but also the efforts of the Missouri and National PTA. Among other things, the Missouri and National PTA work to get important legislation passed by state and federal government on behalf of our children.
To receive frequent communication with CMS, subscribe to PTA’s Parentlink. The schools daily announcements are placed on this link along with other items related to activities at CMS and the Center School District.
There are many ways to become involved and volunteer at CMS through PTA.
I hope to hear from you, your student will love having you involved…..and you’ll feel good about helping out…..WHAT A DEAL! Contact me to become a member of PTA, to work at the Buzz or to find other opportunities to become involved.
